18th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day celebrated in Havana

Today, the 18th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day was colorfully celebrated with the theme of “Diversity and Equality for National Unity” in the presence of the diplomats of the Havana Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, local staff, Ethiopian nationals, and nationals of Ethiopian origin, Ethio-Cubans living in Havana and nearby cities.

On the event, H.E. Ambassador, Dr. Genet Teshome, made a speech about essence of celebrating the 18th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day. In his speech, he stated that standing together by properly handling diversity is an important and imperative issue in our state & nation building, that the national unity takes out from the danger of disintegration in to strong state building, enhances common values, and strengthens ties. He stated that national unity can only be realized when the equality of the people is ensured in a proper way, on the other hand, when the equality of the people is ensured, it is possible to bring lasting peace, secure democracy and rapid development, and the respect of rule of law.

Finally, he called on all citizens to contribute to the unity of the nation through respecting the rights of every group in the society and their equality and through experiencing tolerance, enhancing mutual understanding and support.

Furthermore, the Embassy used the opportunity to introduce the services it provides to citizens.
