welcomed French President
on his second visit to #Ethiopia in six years. It is worth recalling that during his 2019 visit, France announced its support for the restoration of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. The Prime Minister hosted a welcoming ceremony for President Macron at the recently restored National Palace, where the two leaders toured the palace grounds. During their bilateral discussions, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed gratitude for France’s support in restoring the National Palace, a space that had been neglected for decades. President Macron, in turn, praised the impressive restoration work and commended efforts to honor Ethiopia’s history and culture, notably through the Adwa Memorial. The leaders also discussed a range of bilateral and multilateral issues, focusing on strengthening cooperation in investments, culture, and education. Regarding Ethiopia’s quest for access to the sea, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together on sustainable solutions to this longstanding pursuit. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Emmanuel Macron concluded their engagement with a joint press briefing, highlighting key areas of mutual interest and collaboration. #PMOEthiopia
